“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”—F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
i made a point to get a city &colour ticket for the nyc date of this upcoming tour, since the last one sold out and missed it. so i pay the somewhat large amount of money for this ticket, get stoked, and go to enter it into my calendar. which of course, tells me that december 7th is already scheduled - for the frank turner, andrew jackson jihad, and into it. over it. show. shiitttttt. shit. seriously? because i bought a ticket for that last week.
also, i just double booked myself for december. who does that?!
however. if these are the problems in my life, i guess i can’t really complain.
“I learned a lot about falling in love when I fell out of love. I learned a lot about being a friend when i was alone. I played with fire. I burned it all down. I made more mistakes than you can count.”

“What I do know is that Weiner loved this city, he loved politics, and he had the talent to use the latter to make the former a better place. Somewhere along the line that regular guy drinking a beer in Staten Island got lost. But we’ve all lost something with Anthony Weiner’s political demise.”—Blogger Chris Smith at the NYmag (via washingtonexaminer)
i’ve noticed recently that when it comes to the weekend, i unplug. little to no time on the computer, less compulsive checking of my phone, less of me stressing out. today is my first official day not working at borders for the next few months. i’m interested to see if not working increases internet time, of if i’ll do exactly what i plan and spend most of my time outside, with friends, adventuring. either way, i need the mental break.
you know how i know i’m losing my mind? there were three shows of bands i love within an hour of me last night and instead, i cleaned my room and stayed in my bed.
Also, are they even still a band, or is this just Travis now?
And lastly, is he really using auto tune?
I know I shouldn’t be this emotionally invested, but fuck.
this is way more top 40 than i had expected, after the album being touted as the papercut chronicles 2, and even more so after it was officially named as such.
not that there’s a problem with the song - it has the potential to be a good hit, its got decent production and a sweet hook. its just not what i expected. i think using adam levine straight off the bat, and choosing to release this as the first “leaked” single was an interesting choice, and it definitely leads me to the thoughts above.
i am also super emotionally invested in this. its amazing how much i want from this record. its been a long, long time since From canandaigua and 2005.
